The course provides Masters and Officers with the knowledge, understanding, skills and tools to effectively manage and lead crew aboard. This course is required in order for crew to hold Chief Mate, Master 500/3000 and Y2, Y1 Engineering.


5 Days or 6 Nights (4:30pm to 9:30pm)


  • Candidates must hold a deck or engineering Certificate of Competency at the Operational Level and meet the minimum seagoing service requirements for the issue of a management level Certificate of Competency.

Course Description:

Management level means the level of responsibility associated with, serving as master, chief mate, chief engineer or second officer on board a seagoing ship. You’ll learn about Shipboard Human Resource Management, Project Management, Decision Making Skills, Leadership and Motivational Principles.
